Lee will step down
Edward S. Lee, president of the Worcester County Branch National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) said that he will not seek another term as branch president. Lee said that he is making the announcement at this time in order to give persons interested in serving as president time to qualify as candidates according the national constitution and by-law. All candidates seeking elective positions in the up coming November election must be a member in good standing 180 days before the election.
He went on to say that the final opportunity to qualify for the election would be at the NAACP branch meeting to be held in Snow Hill, at the library on April 27, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. He is encouraging individuals who want to make a difference in their community to step forward. The time has come for the next generation leader to take the rains and guide the organization through the 21st century. In addition to the leadership positions, the board of directors’ positions will be up for re-election in the up-coming election.
