Wildflower 1 was shot on Kodachrome 64 slide film using an Olympus OM-2 camera and an Olympus 50mm macro lens. To achieve the black background an off camera flash was used to illuminate the plant. Digital image was created using a Bowens Illumitran and photographing the original slide with an Olympus OM D EM5 digital camera. The original (Wildflower 1) is a relatively nice image but the out-of-focus middle leaf, due to depth of field issues with a macro lens, is a tad disturbing. This image, Wildflower 2, shows what cropping can do to create an entirely different visual experience.
