Description: The image is from and indicates generally higher tides at the NOAA tide measuring station at Ocean City Maryland over a 50-year period. The relative sea level trend is 4.94 millimeters/year with a 95% confidence interval of +/- 0.7 mm/yr based on monthly mean sea level data from 1975 to 2022 which is equivalent to a change of 1.62 feet in 100 years.  The indicated 0.15 meter increase in the last fifty years is about 5 inches. This could vary somewhat at other locations.  Scientists credit increased tide levels along the Atlantic Coast and Chesapeake Bay with the increasing acreage of so-called Ghost Forests.

Whether this measurable increase in tide level continues is an unknown, but it is happening. NOAA data seems to confirm what our eyes see - the visible impact of saltwater intrusion in low-lying areas where trees are dying.
