The Ocean Pines Association, Inc. is pleased to announce the arrival of Officer Robert Smith to the Ocean Pines Police Department.
From January to June, Smith completed 876 hours in the Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Police Academy. He started full time for the Ocean Pines Police Department on June 14th.
“I came to Ocean Pines primarily because of Chief David Massey,” Smith said. “I knew what he did for the OCPD and I like the direction that he is taking the Ocean Pines Police Department,” he added.
Prior to attending the academy, Smith was a seasonal cadet for the Ocean City Police Department in 2000 and then a full time cadet from 2001 to 2003.
“I also like how you can get your foot into everything here,” said Smith. “You can do your own investigations because there isn’t a specialized unit for that which allows me to gain more experience,” he added.
In his spare time, Smith enjoys relaxing and hanging out with his fellow officers.
“I am also in the process of buying a house, so that has been keeping me busy,” Smith said.
