I believe it’s a Black Walnut tree nut Joe. Was never used. I may still have some residual stains husking the coverings off, beating the nuts with a hammer on a hickory stump, and then using a nutpick to gouge out the meat for holiday walnut and applesauce cakes. So long ago and so many fond family memories.
