Description: Sassafras Landing launch site in Assawoman Wildlife Area near Bethany, DE. Sites have parking, picnic shelter, porta-johns. Sassafras has a short sandy beach section. Power boats & jet skis use the water a ways off shore. Going west, up Miller Creek may get away from powered craft. Distance from OP is about 20 mi. Get a Sussex Cty., DE map as road names change, some street signs are twisted. Take Rt. 589 & 113 north to Selbyville; right on Rt. 54 (east) (about 4 to 5 mi?), turn left (northeast) on Cty. road 390. The sign says Johnson Rd. My map says Bunting Rd. Road name changes to Bayard as you cross Rt. 20. Continue (about 3 mi?), then right on Camp Barnes Rd. for about 2 mi. Follow signs into the Wildlife Area and to desired launch site.
