Description: Carol Ludwig
Sandpiper Lane, Ocean Pines
Currently a substitute teacher in Worcester County, and part time consultant for a fiber optic engineering firm. she retired in 2003 from Verizon, where she worked for 33 years. A pioneer of women in non-traditional jobs in the early ‘70s, (yes she did at one time use hooks to climb utility poles!) She spent her last 16 years of employment as management, supervising technicians, overseeing high tech installation and repair, emergency 911 centers, fiber optic construction, and Right Of Way Engineer for Fiber to the Prem, retiring from Milford DE. She transferred from Verizon PA to DE in 2000, when she and her husband Jack made the long range plan that OP would be their second home and they would finally get to move here after retirement in 2009. The job opportunity in Milford had them living here full time within 6 months of the purchase.
A Sweet Adeline for 28 years, she has served as a Chorus director in Bryn Mawr PA and Princeton New Jersey; director of Musical Activities, Region 19 Education team leader, Regional Board of Directors, Regional Teaching Faculty, and Mass Sing director (her all time favorite event). Carol currently serves on the Region 19 Management Team, representing PA, DE, MD, NJ and WVA, as team leader, an elected position, and just completed a two-year term as director coodinator.
She is currently the director (and a founding member) of the Delmarva Chorus of Sweet Adelines International and the First State Harmonizers in Milford, DE, a men’s chorus of the Barbershop Harmony Society (SPEBQSA).
Currently, she is volunteer vocal coach for the award winning Stephen Decatur High School Choirs. Carol also volunteers as a chaperone for school trips.
