For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Joe, I cannot agree with your assertion that a majority of folks felt the New Community Center would be "free". I think the folks in Ocean Pines deserve a little more credit that that. I believe the second vote on the New Community Center was more a referendum on the Board of Directors handling and mismanagement of the project as it was approved, and not a vote against a New Community Center project. I am hopeful the current Board of Directors has the skill and the will to resolve the Community Center issue. |
I base my statement on the materials mailed to all lot owners indicating the entire construction cost would be paid for from sales of the commercial property and 22 interior lots. The word "free" was never mentioned, but I assure you, having sat through every board meeting at the time, it was the clear intent of the board to make people believe it was free.
