Al: My biggest concern is that the cost of the room, set up, and the food is charged to the Yacht Club and not the Golf Operation. Does that make any sense? Marty |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: No, Marty. I'm not saying anything like that. I'm saying the free food (if you can even call it food) was a loss-leader. It got me to come. Would people have come to the meeting without the offer of food? Some would have, probably, but not as many as were there buying drinks that evening. Should the Golfies be entitled to free food for their meetings? Probably not. I came to the meeting, in part, because I knew some appetizers were included. I bought drinks as well. I assume the price of the drinks was above their cost and somewhat offset the cost of the food. If not, they should charge a little more for the drinks. How much are we talking about to cover the cost of that kind of frozen, mystery food and a few celery stalks, anyhow? Pennies per drink, at most. Of course, that would have been difficult to do, on Saturday, when the Golfies were mixed with other patrons. But it could be done when meetings are held at the Country Club. Hopefully, the Board will allow the food and beverage czar and the golf govs to review what's appropriate for future meetings. |
