I do not believe the current residents/membership should have to pay $120.00 as a special assessment.
There will probably not be a special assessment. Regardless, association members will pay the tax. It most likely will be paid from reserves. Reserves come from association members. I simply pointed out the two options available -- special assessment or reserves. BTW, how is paying from reserves any more "fair" than a special assessment? From reserves = $12 a year for 10 years for $120; special assessment = $120 in one shot. If you have lived here for at least 10 years, you have already paid the $120 --- in advance. Collecting delinquent assessments is not as simple as some may think. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: While I am on my soap box I would also like to see any board make their best effort to stop future assessment increases until they have exhausted all means to collect the lion share of the $745,000.00 in delinquent dues. Is there room for anyone else on that soap box Marty? Let me say, that this is just my thoughts but be that as it may. I do not believe the current residents/membership should have to pay $120.00 as a special assessment. My exact thoughts were what about the delinquent homeowners that haven't paid regular dues in who knows how long. The only fair and equitable conclusion to this mess would be to pay it out of our reserves; that way, yes you and I pay our share but it is spread around. We would never collect the special assessment along with the $745,000.00 anytime soon from those delinquent homeowners. I agree with you wholeheartedly. Linda |
