Robert: "OPA is NOT in the wedding business nor are we in the restaurant business" Actually we are. Your right when you say we are not very good at it. However, we are in deed in the restaurant business. We are also in the marina and marina gas business, beach parking lot business, golf course business, beach club business and so on. Some will try to shirk their responsibility or blame and call some of these businesses amenities. That is no excuse. There can be no doubt that they are businesses.Marty |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I think it's a compromise, we all need to remember the OPA is NOT in the wedding business nor are we in the restaurant business. We can't manage what we have as evidenced by a history of poor or no maintenance on the existing structure as well as historic losses going back a number of years. There is no business plan just a "Field of Dreams" idea that if we build it they will come. As far as weddings are concerned there is ZERO evidence that they have ever made a dime on outside functions. Let's stop kidding ourselves, we don't need a restaurant, a bar serving burgers and sandwiches will get it done. While we are at it let's try and find someone to lease the golf course for a dollar a year on a triple net and unload that money pit while we're at it! |
