The subject is voting yes or no to build a new Yacht Club not all the amenities combined.

Over the last 4 full fiscal years the Yacht Club has lost $428,216 on operations only, no depreciation. That's an average of over $20 per year for every lot owner in Ocean Pines each year. In additon we pay depreciation each year on the Yacht Club which is reasonalbe.

It is not unreasonable to ask that each amenity cover their operating cost as a goal, however a small loss on one, offset by profit on the others, is also reasonable as long as management doesn't consider losses on any one as an acceptable way of operating.

For whatever reason, our various BODs & GMs do not see this as a problem despite the fact that the losses on operations incurred at the Yacht Club over its life would have paid for a new one. Add the $20 per year operating losses, the yearly deprecitation, and the 5 year plan together and you have big bucks.

For me it is a no vote because our BODs & GMs don't have the desire or ability to make management decisions to correct the losses. I have no confidence in them at all. We should get out of the restaurant and bar  business and leave it to the real business people.  Build a new seasonal one story building and serve sandwichs and lite fare.
