Section 5: OPA Board Subject: COPE Golf Petition? Msg# 878950

Marty, I do agree with you on the referendum, it was passed by a majority, but let's see what happens to that failing amenity, and see what is said then. Correct me if I am wrong, the only amenity that makes money is beach parking, boat slips (maybe, since they are not all filled, and that space doesn't cost anything) and gas that is sold at the pier.
And Yes, the COPE referendum will likely pass, because there are more people who don't live on the golf course, then the ones that do live here. We bought our home to be specifically on the course not a park, and I would think that any Board would try and make it a profitable amenity not only for the golf course lot owners but for the entire community. Could you tell me and the rest of the homeowners, what the board has done to try and find someone to lease the course? Casper has no skin in the game, they certainly don't care what happens, they get there monthly payment no matter what the outcome.......profit or loss Seems to me that nothing has been done! If the current GM is suppose to be such a competent business man, why hasn't he come up with a plan, he certainly has all kind of idea's on how to lose money. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Brian: "You can spend $4.5M on a failing Yacht Club" While you and I might not have been in agreement with the YC replacement it was approved by a majority of our membership. I believe that a referendum is what COPE is after and, shy of the board leasing out the operation, wil probably happen. Marty |
