Joe you have been a proponent of converting the golf course into a park for a long time with out taking any action. Now CORE is taking action and you are pushing even harder. You want the lemings to just folow along with out knowing all the facts. You keep stating that we are paying $120 a year in our assessement for the golf course. That is true but to make it appear that a park will put that money in our pockets is misleading. Once the golf course is converted to a park who knows what will be added and at what cost. A covered pavillion or two, playground equipment, picnic tables, grills etc. As Nate said there will be a cost to maintain a park or open space. While no one knows what the savings will be my guess is that it will not be much more that a good dinner out.
I am not opposed to a referendum but the referendum must be fair and all inclusive of the facts. It can not be just close the golf course and we will save a million dollars a year. Maybe we should have a referendum that forces the BOD to try to lease the course or to open the course to full public play as Nate suggests. There may be other ways to turn the course around financially whic I am not aware of. Until some strong effot is tried all we are doing is throwing the baby out with the bath water. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Nate, do you object to association members deciding in referendum whether they want a golf course or open space? |
