It's all part of the same thing Joe. If a school has Nobel Prize winners teaching courses the school gets a better ranking. Understand the point I'm trying to make, the CV's of the professors at Harvard or MIT are more impressive than the CV's of the professors at Salisbury. I'm also willing to bet that the SAT's and high school GPA's of the students admitted to MIT are higher than the students admitted to Salisbury. My youngest son went to Notre Dame, 65% of the incoming freshman class were their school Valedictorians, 75% were class officers, most of them president. They get over 18,000 applicants a year, Harvard got over 37,000 this year and took I think a little over 5%. Like it or not graduates are judged a lot by the pedigree of their school, a GPA of 4.0 from Salisbury is impressive but would pale by comparison with a 4.0 from Harvard. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: The issue comes after you graduate. You did not initially knock on the value of a degree based on the school. You initially knocked the quality of the teaching staff. |
