We are of a mind, Dave. Several years back I contacted the county and asked that they remove the barnyard geese from 589. The are nothing but a roadblock and a traffic hazard. These geese belong on a farm, not wandering back and forth across a state highway. The response I got from county animal control is that they were not equipped to capture geese. Sounded like a copout to me. I offered to help them out as I used to lasso geese on my uncle's farm years and years back. I got zip response on my offer. At least the Canadas will move out of the way if one eases through them. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I have almost been rear ended twice at the south gate when stopped for geese crossing! I am always glad when there comes a State Police officer and he drives by standing traffiic and blows his horn and herds the geese off the road, since they are creating an unsafe traffic situation. If there are geese crossing in front of me, I do as the officers did, drive through them blowing my horn. I am not going to be rear end for the sake of a goose. Also, I have given up fishing at the pond due to the amount of goose poop. It was sickening. But if you and others care to ulogize a goose, then have at. To each their own. I have to wonder as well how the Ocean Pines Anglers will be able to have their kids fishing day with all of the fence that exists now. Looks like a goose and duck cage when yopu drive by and see them sitting between the fence and monofilament lines! Works well! |
