Unfortunately, Bob Lassahn signed off the Forum permanently not too long ago. Any dispatches he may be filing these days are of the celestial type.
As to your comments, the type you rode to school in were still in use on the Newark (NJ) subway system until about 15 years ago. They were sturdy and fun to ride in as I did from time to time as an alternate way to the PATH system to NYC. (I am a bit of a subway nut, having started riding them from the boro of Queens into NYC as a high school freshman.) |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: As a youngster I rode the open air trolley through Fairmount Park in Philadelphia to Woodside Park, a big adventure for a six year old. I also rode the other style every day to school, I think they were known as PRC cars, designed back in the 30's?
