For the record, I don't see your motion as a useless motion, as Joe Reynolds does, and thank you for making the motion and the suggestion. Also thanks to the board for recognizing and approving a recommendation that can lead to saving OPA members thousands of dollars.
Have you yet read the RFP Analysis so that you speak with knowledge about what happened with the motions? Herrick's motion was not useless unless the board also meets again and decides to NOT spend $150,000 as Phase One of the Manklin Creek master plan. Since the latter is as likely to happen as aliens arriving at your place from outer space tonight, even if the existing tennis courts are converted full time to pickleball, $150,000 will be thrown down a sewer. And I certainly hope Herrick sees this as well. If not, maybe we need seven new board members and a new GM. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: My motion would dedicate 2 tennis courts to full time Pickle Ball courts which would have the pickle ball line markings only and also be fitted with permanent center nets. Currently there is a total of four (4) temporary pickle ball courts for use at the complex. Although four pickle ball courts can actually fit onto one tennis court, many of the conversions being made across the country are fitting them with three courts to provide additional room for the players. This configuration will provide the pickle ball membership with a total of nine courts for use when including the three currently available in the Community Center. (bold added by me) Thank you Tom Herrick for your thoughtful answer. So, the board voting to have the GM investigate the recommendation contained in your motion can lead to the creation of of six permanent, dedicated pickle ball courts that do not currently exist, and for a very minimal cost to the OPA members. For the record, I don't see your motion as a useless motion, as Joe Reynolds does, and thank you for making the motion and the suggestion. Also thanks to the board for recognizing and approving a recommendation that can lead to saving OPA members thousands of dollars. One other question regarding the courts that would be converted to pickle ball. Are those two tennis courts already lighted? |
