Here is what you and others are putting forth as pure speculation: That the motion put forth by Mr. Terry is Phase I of the original Manklin Creek Master Plan, which would permit this board or a future board to proceed sometime in the future with the original master plan that has been rejected by this board due to it's outrageous cost.
Terry has called it Phase One. The GM has called it Phase One. The RFP Analysis calls it Phase One. The work involves site preparation for eight pickleball courts. That is not speculation. Again, look at the documents provided by the GM. I will agree that it is speculation to say the board will go ahead with the rest of the $750,000 project in the future. It is not speculation to say that the expenditure of $150,000 is not necessary if the $750,000 is never completed. Even Terry references it as a part of the original master plan. Why anyone would stubbornly not agree that the $150,000 is no more than Thompson's Phase One of $207,000 less four pickleball courts (exactly as described by Terry in the video) can only be attributed to politics, not facts. Again, look at the RFP analysis. There is no need to move a playground that has been there for over 10 years if not to make way for and complete Phase One of the $750,000 project, including all necessary site work and stormwater management control for eight future pickleball courts. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Thank You Joe, sometimes Carol has a difficult time grasping reality. Robert, Here is reality for you: --One bid to an RFP asking for cost proposals to complete the Manklin Creek Master Plan, came back for a cost of $750,000 --The board has refused to fund that proposal as the cost was outrageous. --The board has passed a motion from Mr. Herrick to look into converting and dedicating two existing tennis courts to pickle ball courts, and constructing two new platform tennis courts. --The board has passed a motion from Mr. Terry authorizing the GM to spend up to $150,000, to accomplish storm water mitigation, cut down some trees for an expanded parking lot (now designated to be gravel instead of asphalt) repair/relocate the existing children playground and construct a fence for playground safety. That is pure speculation as we have no idea what this board or a new board in the future may do. For all we know, any board in the future could tear down all of the existing facilities in Manklin Creek Sports Complex and begin anew with some other plan. That would also be pure speculation. Reality is what has actually happened. What you have suggested is pure speculation. |
