With regard to one sign per candidate per lot on association member property, the ARC Guidelines also have exceptions to that. Two Candidate signs per lot, one in front and one in back per candidate, is permitted for association member property lots backing to the golf course, water, Rt 90, Rt 589 and Beauchamp Rd.
Yes. Interesting exception making those particular property owners potentially more influential in an election than other property owners. I could find nothing in the ARC Guidelines that prohibited a sign being displayed on or in a vehicle. I could care less if Cordwell is so involved that he chooses to put signs on his truck. I do care that he then parks that truck on OPA property as a means of promoting and advertising for board candidates. The Guidelines state: No political signs, displays, or literature may be placed on or in any property, right-of-way, building, bulletin board, structure, road sign, or tree owned by or under control of the Association. I think the intent is clear. If the above does not apply to automobiles festooned with election signs parked all over OPA common property, maybe we can reach a new low with cars on the street and cars on OPA property, maybe even with flashing lights, balloons and dancing girls. If Cordwell can get away with this, OPA has hit yet another new low. Maybe all candidates could get their friends and relatives to mount signs and park their cars over at the Admin building, the YC, the Country Club, the Beach Club, the pools, all OPA parks, and any and all other OPA property likely to be visited by possible voters. Maybe even on the road in front of your home or my home. One would hope that if Cordwell's action is indeed supported by the board's interpretation of the guidelines, it would not be something you personally support. What about trucks with loud speakers and flashing signs to boot? |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: For starters - no signs on OPA common property except at the candidate forum; one sign per candidate per lot on association member property. I could find nothing in the ARC Guidelines that prohibited a sign being displayed on or in a vehicle. |
