For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: From: Marty Clarke Joe: The OPA does indeed post written notice at the physical property address if no other means is available. Marty Hi Marty, Gary says the owners of the property next to him are deceased. It appears that the owners of 3 Bramblewood have been deceased for some time. The husband died in 2005, and the wife in 2008 If the heirs are not around, the notices do no good. I think that many of the abandoned properties have to do with wills that are not settled, or children who live far away and/or just don't care. There are two properties in my Silver Spring neighborhood that fall into this category. MoCo cuts the grass and attaches the cost to the tax bill, and neighbors pull the weeds.....in self defense. Many of the folks who bought OP property in the early years are dying, and that is why we are seeing this glut of abandoned properties. Nancy |
