I suggest that if they really have to have a swearing in ceremony (they don't), make them swear to uphold something like that.

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I urge everyone in Ocean Pines to read a letter-to-the editor from outgoing OPA board member Bill Cordwell in the August 18, 2016 edition of the Bayside Gazette. Therein you will discover the heretofore top secret information that I, Joe Reynolds, am one of three people in total control of Ocean Pines. As a Post Script to my earlier post about the management of OPA I further suggest that all prospective board members be provided the materials and information that is available from the professional HOA ASSOCIATIONS regarding what is the expected responsibility and authority of a board member. The candidate would then agree that they understand the responsibilities and duties the board of directors position and agree to serve accordingly. Since OPA has a search committee for prospective board members, I assume that they could implement this procedure. And further, when elected to the position, that board member should be held to a standard of responsible behavior as board member in duties and persona. Sharon |
