One of my all time favorite cars, way ahead of their time style wise but their V8 was known as an oil burner.
I owned a 53 Stude in college. Convinced my mother to let me repaint the car if I worked an extra two weeks in the summer. Andrea was working in a purse factory and was able to obtain blue and white naugahyde [sp?] for me to redo the interior. I painted the car midnight blue with white for the inset on the side. Removed those bars from the slots in the front grill and painted the interior of the slots red. Also dumped the hood ornament. Then there was the big V8 engine which looked like it had a thousand horsepower but was only about 120. I could never get it over 90MPH . Oh....I always carried a couple quarts of oil in the trunk if taking a trip over 100 miles. . It was a great design for its time and my one regret is that I never took a picture of the car. My other regret is that it came with a Borg Warner transmission which I changed out not by choice but that is another story. |
