Terry,
I am sorry that this happened to your daughter. I have heard that similar things happened to many families (one I know personally) last season. The person who was highly paid to manage weddings and banquets was "missing in action" and apparently, no one was assigned to take his place. This is inexcusable. Not only were many families disappointed, but the one aspect of our F & B operation that had previously been profitable, and the main reason we have a two-story Yacht Club, was a big zero in 2017. For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: a few months ago, my daughter and her fiancé wanted to book the Ocean Pines Yacht club for a wedding and reception. We met with the manager and his assistant to get details and pricing. Food pricing was ok but not many options. The alcohol pricing was outrageous. I mistakenly thought that as a resident we would get some consideration. It had been my daughter‘s dream to marry there since she was a little girl. They did not give up on that dream. They thought They could make adjustments to cut the costs down. So they called. And called. More than ten times. No reply. Finally her sister calls posing as a wedding planner and gets a call back, but only saying that the manager would call back. Never happened. They are getting married in Pennsylvania For 8,000 dollars LESS than Ocean Pines and with a better setup. It is time for a thorough review of everything. |
