Thanks for your feedback - where do we start? Maybe you missed the point - waterfowl will come to where fresh water is located like our lake, ponds, and canals. That’s just nature.
Fun Fact: The East Coast and Mid-Atlantic coastal areas are flyways. Geese will pond and lake hop (when they can fly and aren’t molting). Since Canada Geese all look alike, wouldn’t it be hard to tell if geese on the pond on any given day in any month are the same geese from the day before? Not so Fun Fact: The USDA kills in June and July when the geese are molting and cannot fly. When a gander takes a mate, he will go to her place of birth to raise their young. Again, it’s nature - the government knows they cannot fly in June and July and geese will not leave their babies. Appreciate that you are neutral and are not mean-spirited in your reply. I honestly thought this forum might be educational without realizing that it is more for entertainment value. This could be more fun than I thought! |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Let's see where do we start.... Get rid of the lakes and ponds. More concrete?? Also harmful to the environment ??? Fill?? from where and just how clean is it?? They'll be gone in a month ?? They all fly away ??? Then what are the geese I see in September and October ?? And how do those who have drop wing fly ??? And why do they have drop wing ?? Maybe cruel people who think these lovely creatures need to be fed bread despite the signs not to do so USDA exterminates thousands of community geese ??? I thought they all fly away.? How can they be labeled "community geese" ?? And then it's difficult for me to reconcile your arguments against the cost of the roundup of geese with your arguments for poop machines and general park maintenance. I doubt that there is much park maintenance needed around what is an enormous lake. So the costs would probably offset. As for me...I'm neutral. I never visit the lake area; I don't hunt and I rarely fish. I enjoy the view of the lake and I don't mind having the geese around. I just dislike people back and filling with spurious arguments to support a basic position which is "let's do a better job of coexisting with God's creatures". You just don't want them killed. I get it. I'm also against abortion too. |
