The number needed to be reduced. It should be a planned and budgeted expense that occurs periodically so the numbers are maintained at a safe level for the community. Really not that complicated.
Hopefully that logic prevails going forward. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Death Knell For all Living Things? commentary by Joe Reynolds Mary Deborah Hauf Wilson of Ocean Pines is on a mission. Wilson is on a mission to convince you that the Ocean Pines Association decision to have several hundred resident Canada geese killed was improper or illegal or inhumane because the Federal agencies involved, like the United States Fish and Wildlife Service and the United States Department of Agriculture, are no more than "predatory" agencies making big bucks by killing wildlife. Wilson is on a mission to convince you that the United States Fish and Wildlife Service and United States Department of Agriculture are not only predatory money grubbers out to slaughter wildlife for profit, but that the agencies have no idea what they are talking about with regard to wildlife management. Wilson is on a mission to convince you that the Ocean Pines Association had about 300 geese killed by the United States Department of Agriculture only because "it could" and the OPA decision "reflects the lack of empathy that has occurred on Ocean Pines roads when large groups of geese are run over." Wilson is on a mission to convince you that toddlers or adults can wallow in slimy goose poop without worry about disease or illness as a result. She writes that goose poop is no more than grass. "What's the problem with grass in the water or land?" she asks rhetorically in a recent letter to the editor in the Bayside Gazette. Wilson is on a mission to convince you that the removal and killing of 300 resident Canada geese donated to food banks resulted in the creation of "killing fields" in Ocean Pines. Wilson is on a mission to have the OPA Board of Directors declare it will no longer support killing of Canada geese as allowed by Federal law or face her threat of future protests and what she warns will be her continued "attempts to reduce ignorance, indifference, and fear mongering." Wilson is on a mission to convince you that local chicken farms are more of a danger to you and your children than coming in direct contact with blankets of disgusting goose poop surrounding the Veterans Memorial and Veterans Memorial Pond at the South Gate of Ocean Pines. Wilson is on a mission to convince you that drivers in Ocean Pines are intentionally mowing down 20 or 30 geese and goslings at a time. She claims police have been called out to shoot an injured goose that was "crying out in pain." OPA police have not confirmed her charges. Wilson is on a mission to convince you that after speaking with the Maryland State Police she believes OPA is in "legal jeopardy" for what she says may be violations of Maryland's animal cruelty laws. Wilson is on a mission to convince you that in 2017 Canada geese were "lured into a tent and gassed" right outside a restaurant at the South Gate. Wilson is on a mission to convince you that decisions of the members of the OPA Environment & Natural Assets Committee are "flawed and based on hysteria" and the committee members have an "unbridled need for power." Wilson is on a mission to prevent any future killing of Canada geese because she says, "To do otherwise will be the death knell for all living things that we love as residents of a coastal community." |
