From the forensic investigation:
Member Discounts: During FYE April30, 2018, OPA implemented a new benefit for members in the form of a 20% discount on all purchases (food and beverage) at the Beach Club and Yacht Club. The cost of that benefit was not included in the FYE April 30, 2018 budget. We noted that discounts expense increased $43,695 at the Beach Club and $83,074 at the Yacht Club for FYE April 30, 2018 as compared to the prior year. Therefore, it appears that this new member benefit resulted in reduced profits at the Beach Club and Yacht Club during FYE April 30, 2018 totaling $126,769. |
