Slobodan, I can see where the rest of the world would like to see the US march forward in the absence of China and India given its past track record. To "go it alone" for 10 years until 2030 when China might join dragging India with it would likely result in undue harm to the US economy. Again, I can see where many would see that as a form of just reparations as it were. However, our readers should be reminded that during the negotiations leading to the Kyoto Climate Protocols in 1997, the US Senate passed a resolution 95-0 urging President Clinton not to sign any agreement that would result in unreasonable harm to the US economy. My how times have changed. You might get Senators on the right to agree to the same resolution today with the Paris Accord ........ I am quite certain you would not get any support from the left on a similar resolution today.
Just my take. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I can understand how you, George and others may feel considering China's and India's spike in carbon footprint. When I look at the PA issues it would be unfair if I did not consider the historical pollution data. The countries like the USA that lead with the industrial revolution for example. Here is an interesting article to illustrate this point... 6 charts that highlight the carbon impact from 1850 to 2014 are very informative. Have a nice weekend Slobodan |
