About the pine needles on the side of the roads, I think if they were cleaned up, it would make a huge difference in the appearance of the Pines not to mention cutting down on some of the flooding. This is a maintenance issue I believe needs to be addressed. If we need more staff for this or maybe contracting out, then so be it. It's necessary. I've often wondered if we have increased our staffing over the years to compensate for the increase in houses being built and a lot more wear and tear. I believe we're very close to build-out. Whether we like it or not, we have to pay for upkeep of OPA's common property.
On a side note, who keeps driving on the grass by the Sports Core pool and creating tracks all over it. It looks terrible. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: This is an area I am interested in moving forward and would love to see others become involved This place needs some beautification. The question is, will association members want to pay for it. A major, major item you left unsaid but expensive to maintain are miles and miles of where blacktop meets grass. About ten or more years ago a GM asked for the budget to include eight employees to do no more than maintain roadside ditches. The board gave him four. I suggest that to keep the roadside grass looking good and cleaning up the matted pine needles along many miles of road edges would probably take a crew of 20 or more. People do not want to pay for beautification, real beautification, beyond planting a few flowers and trees. some solar lighting at mailboxes Not sure how those with mailboxes next to their homes would see that as an improvement. |
