I would agree that board members and employees should be more aware of the potential for conflicts of interest as relates to personal relationships between employees and board members. Hard to do but if personal friendships exist which is entirely possible then conversations should be limited to exclude OPA personnel. In a significant private business that I was a part of any conversation between a staff member and a board member was reported to the CEO. Only the CEO and the board secretary who was a staff member had regular interaction with board members. Staff, including the GM should be judged on bona fide performance appraisals and business outcomes not whispering campaigns. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Well I hope you feel better for pointing that out. Exactly the problem in Ocean Pines, these behind the scenes efforts to take people down. Private meetings off premise, private groups, private emails. I don’t think this is productive. |
