Yes. There seems to be no counter reading list. I watched a tape of parents in another state reading excerpts from these ‘woke’ books- and they were - I must say - vulgar in many ways as they are very ‘sexual’ . Now I’m no old fart- but what they were reading- even the school board that chose the books were yelling above them to STOP!
So correct me if I’m wrong- Bertino did NOT want these in our libraries? I am backing him 100%!Our children don’t need to be explained to of different sexual preferences. I heard on the news today of a middle school girl who always has had many friends of color and never thought of race or LGBT. On the playground the other day she was being harassed for not joining the LGBT CLUB and being called homophobic because of it. Then- she was told she was ‘too white’ too be wearing shorts…what is happening? Kids that previously played together and never gave race a thought are now being divided…I think it’s sickening. Keep the Woke out of Worcester County. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I'd join that same club, totally with your views, objecting to this kind of stuff being pushed on young readers. Thanks to Joe for bringing this into view. After presenting those excerpts of what's in that "woke" reading list, Reynolds hits the nail on the head, writing: the issue here is not about prohibiting books, rather about what books should be actively promoted by our library system for young readers. Also KUDOS to Commissioner Bertino for his efforts. |
