Here is the official OPA news release
For Immediate Release Sept. 22, 2021
Community survey goes live Homeowners asked to weigh in on priorities for next three-to-five years Members of the Ocean Pines Strategic Planning Advisory Committee released a new survey designed to gather community input on top priorities for the next several years. Committee Co-Chairman Bernie McGorry said the goal for the survey is to capture a broad range of demographic and interest groups, including both young families and retirees, and full-time homeowners and seasonal residents. The committee’s target is at least 1,000 respondents, with at least 500 part-time residents and 500 full-time residents taking part. The survey has 15 questions and should take less than 15 minutes to complete. Committee members developed the survey after months of research, including detailed comparisons with neighboring homeowners’ associations, a SWOT analysis — or lists of strengths weaknesses, opportunities and threats — collected from Ocean Pines department heads, and input from other Ocean Pines advisory committees. “We also had some great input on the survey from residents,” committee Co-Chairman Moe Delcher said. To take the survey, visit www.oceanpines.org and click on the “Community Survey” link at the top of the page. Reminder cards with a QR code link to the survey will also be available at several locations in Ocean Pines. Those who wish to fill out a paper copy of the survey may do so by emailing info@oceanpines.org, or calling the administration office at 410-641-7717. Paper copies will also be available at the administration building and Public Works/CPI office, and at the visitor’s center at The Parke. “The goal was to make the survey easy to find and simple to take part in,” McGorry said. “And the data we collect, we hope, will help align Board members and management on priorities for the next three-to-five years, and give homeowners a say on that.” McGorry said individual survey responses would be strictly confidential, and the overall results will be shared at a future town hall meeting and on the Ocean Pines website. For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Association members, or anyone anywhere in the world it appears, can now take a Community Survey for Ocean Pines. It also appears anyone can fill out the survey as many times as they choose. If so, not sure if any results will have any applicability or meaning. Perhaps dupe IP number surveys are rejected, but then responses from both a husband and wife might end up with one rejected, Not to mention, IP numbers can be manipulated with ease via VPN or simply being on a different cell tower. The site may/could exclude certain IPs if you use a VPN. Have not tested that. All it will take is for a few, or even one, screwballs to make the entire process useless. And OPA might not even know it. OPA is hoping for a response of 1000, 500 resident owners and 500 non-resident owners. Assuming that level of return, one dedicated screwball could represent 20% or more of the total responses in an hour or so. It should also be noted that your IP address will be recorded and can be used to identify you in some cases. More on the questions later, but one likely to interest many association members was question 14. Looks like OPA is officially WOKE. 14. What is your gender? Female Male Other I prefer not to answer Well-done surveys can provide some insight into what property owners are thinking. Unfortunately, this survey, as done, should never be used to formulate future policy decisions. |
