This is a new low. Very disturbing. No way for an adult board member to behave. I am very disappointed. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Janasek - Again commentary by Joe Reynolds "How deep are you up Larry's ass?" The above quote is not from one of the nitwits sending threatening emails to Camilla Rogers after her due-diligence finding of Richard Farr as an ineligible candidate in the 2021 OPA Board of Directors election. It was in an email exchange distributed to all board members shortly after the board approved sending out new ballots with three candidates, not including Farr. Based on confirmation from three sitting board members and receipt of the actual email exchange, male board member Tom Janasek wrote those disgusting words to female board member Collette Horn. No one should take pleasure in this disturbing information, but association members have the right to know how their elected board members are conducting the business of our association. Those emails are part of the "books and records" of OPA. Asked via email if he would confirm whether or not he wrote the offensive comment, Janasek replied, "No." He has not answered a follow-up email of, "Thanks. Did you write those words to Horn?" What sparked all this? Shortly after the board meeting in the golf clubhouse meeting room on Thursday, September 30th, this correspondent received the following email at 5:20 pm from OPA board member Doug Parks: "Just an FYI that I just saw Larry Perrone here at the clubhouse with Colette walking 3 steps behind him and then they both sat down at a table outside. So much for worrying about COVID - I decided to leave before expressing my opinion." Parks wanted me to know that while Perrone participated in the meeting via phone, due to being around someone a week or more ago who tested positive for Covid, he saw Perrone join Collette Horn for a drink at an outside table at the golf clubhouse just after the meeting. This correspondent's response to Parks was, "Thanks. I understand your point but you must admit being outside is not the same as inside at a meeting with prospects of a crowd." Parks then sent a similar email to board members at 5:30 pm. Horn replied to Parks at 6:28 pm with: "Doug, I will clear up any speculation you may entertain about Larry’s 'showing up' at the Clubhouse after our meeting. I own the fact that I asked him if I could buy him a drink on the Clubhouse patio, as my friend, whom I experienced as a source of support & collaboration as I served as the face of a co-chair situation in a meeting during which I faced parliamentary challenges that were outside the norm and well beyond what I expected. I believe I navigated those challenges successfully with Larry’s and Jeremy’s support. It meant a lot to me that Larry was willing to allow me that gesture of appreciation." Inexplicably, at 6:32 pm, Tom Janasek jumped in with this reply to Collette Horn: "Are you serious, I'm sharing this email with the press!!! How deep are you up Larry's ass?" Horn responded to Janasek, "Be sure that you also share with the press your vulgar and inappropriate email to me." Janasek replied, "Ok. I will." Larry Perrone replied to Parks and Janasek saying if they wanted to release the email exchange to the press, then "have at it." As association members may recall, in late 2020 Janasek was previously charged with making disgusting and demeaning public comments about OPA General Manager John Viola in public places and in front of OPA employees and association members over a period of perhaps a year. Janasek plead guilty and did not dispute any of the charges. Janasek said, "I want to personally apologize to John. What I did was offensive. This will not happen again." Janasek received the support of Parks and a deal was brokered whereby Janasek would not be removed from the board, but accept a censure. Earlier in 2020, Janasek also very publicly and rather angrily accused Camilla Rogers of reneging on some claim she had promised him she would vote for Steve Tuttle for OPA president just after the 2020 election and then voted for Perrone. As OceanPinesForum.com member Glenn Nelson wrote regarding Janasek's censure in 2020, "Any type of abuse - public or private - is unacceptable." Nelson's words are no less applicable today. One board member, wishing to remain anonymous after witnessing the threats against Camilla Rogers and her family, said, "This latest episode is but a sample of what we have endured since the day Tom Janasek joined our board." Then added, "Both Doug and Tom present themselves in meetings as though they are the altar boys protecting the interests of the membership. Their true character is reflected in the many vitriolic emails sent by them to their board colleagues." |
