Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Disgraceful Vote on Lakernick Msg# 1153076

You are correct that I approved the application as Board Liaison for SPAC. I chose not to vote. Dr. Horn made the committee assignments. She is aware of my love of data/research and my enthusiastic support of the Community Survey and thought I would be a good fit. During Wednesday’s Board meeting I used the Community Survey data in my discussions regarding the AARP and electronic voting. It is a very helpful tool. I think I am a good fit on the Committee and have only received very positive feedback regarding my role. I have no intention (nor have I ever) of resigning. Although the role of Liaison on a committee is limited in scope, I enjoy it. I hope there is a large turnout for the SPAC Town Hall on Wednesday, March 2 at 6pm. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Hi Amy. You did not vote on the motion to appoint Lakernick to the committee, yet the board packet contains his application and it contains your signature endorsing him. A source tells me you said something to the effect that if Lakernick was appointed to the committee then you would resign as liaison. Is this source accurate? As an aside to readers - one more YES vote would have resulted in a tie vote and the motion to appoint Lakernick would still have failed. Horn took the politically expedient easy way out. |
