Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Janasek Accosts Wheatley Msg# 1160159

I certainly agree that all should feel safe in our community but also feel it's a safety officer's responsibility to keep our community safe and not become a board policy. It's just not a good idea to put the board in the position of making those determinations. It is something they should have a conversation with Matt Ortt if it's felt a situation with someone warrants them to be banned at the club. I also agree that Viola is a terrific GM and hate to see him go...however from what I've read don't think his deciding to leave had anything to do with the incidents with Janasek, which were also inappropriate. So I think we agree on the behavior just not how to best handle. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Thank you for your response. However, we don't agree. Anyone who is verbally abusive and physically menacing should have privileges for Ocean Pines amenities revoked immediately. As long as an individual with that behavior is allowed to behave inappropriately, they will continue the behavior. I for one am unwilling to give up going to any of the eating or socialize clubs because I am fearful this individual or any individual would invade my personal space, use inappropriate language or threaten me. I, you or Ms. Wheatley are not the problem. Mr. Jenasek is the problem. This is not the first time he has exhibited menacing behaving and inappropriate language. He displayed the same behaviors at the Golf Club last year . when he approached Ms. Horn and another board member. I pointed in response to that behavior that it seems he acts out when in venues that serve alcohol. I am not a lawyer so do not know if this is appropriate but I would have lodged a criminal complaint for menacing behavior. Of course that is why I have a lawyer, so he can advise of what can and cannot be done. I actually would be willing to file a civil complaint. No change in behavior without consequences. How long are we going to unacceptable behavior. I would also like to comment on Mr. Viola's experiences with this individual. Mr. Viola is one of the best association GM's. I am impressed with his board presentations, his follow up and his professional demeaner. He also has been accosted when spending time with his family at one of our clubs. As a result he is not choosing to remain as the GM. It is a sad day when bullying behaviors ousts a competent staff or board member. |
