| 100% agree with everything you have said…and Doug Parks would have a completely different attitude if that would have been me, Trendic or for that matter anyone flipping out on him or his wife. And I seriously doubt he would have exercised the restraint that director Wheatley and her husband showed. I have nothing against Tom personally but this type of behavior is totally inexcusable. Just a poor poor reflection on the civility of the community and it’s dining establishments. None of us wants to encounter this when we go out for a meal or a drink. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Matt Ortt companies cannot and will not be objective re this incident, as those who are pushing for this option know. Plus they were not elected by the voters of Ocean Pines who frequent - - and have subsidized - - the clubs . . . if there is a history of targeting OPA admin then this is clearly a matter that must be handled by the board. Those who say otherwise are simply condoning the behavior. This was not a case of two miscellaneous drunks throwing punches, which of course would be an Ortt decision to make. We should feel safe in our clubs, and board members should especially feel safe, and their safety shouldn't depend on subjective decisions made by the club management. Who the hell will run for the board if they have avoid going to our own clubs? Ms. Wheatly's husband obviously used great restraint . . . if the accounts are true this could have turned into an ugly, violent incident if someone with a different temperament was accosted. Is that what we want for our community, our Yacht Club, our Clubhouse? And btw, yes, there are people on this form who have made comments overtly condoning this behavior, one even trying to paint TJ as a victim of a vendetta. As I said in a previous post, I like the guy personally, I know him for a long time, but we simply cant't have OPA staff and volunteers bullied. steve lind |
