It seems to me that the least OP could do is to rename the skate park after Gavin. The board backed Mr DeAngelis just like Matt Ortt They even allowed the three people who had access to the car in question to work at the Yacht Club. Mr Ortt has since changed his mind about backing his partner which says something about how he feels now. Why, is our board backpedaling and not naming the skate park in Gavin’s honor? We pay millions of dollars every year so the golf course can have whatever it wants. This neighborhood doesn’t do much at all for teenagers. Skateparks are inexpensive and can be great for kids of all ages. Come on BODs do what’s right for a change!!!!! | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: The OPA Board of Directors was responding to the following post on Facebook: I have been working with board members since August trying to get the votes for the renaming of the skate park that was verbally promised to me from the beginning. Lengthy discussions have lead to the conclusion that the vote will not happen due to the relationships with the Matt Ortt company. I know this is true, and so does the board. After working with the board I can honestly say as my personal opinion that this board is the most corrupt HOA board I have ever seen. It’s not just the stories I have heard but the actions of the board throughout their terms are unethical to say the least. Thank you again for putting the management company above a paying resident. I’m sorry I don’t have the funds to make a difference in your decision. On Monday November 14th I was asked to met with the OP Board President Doug Parks and Dr. Colette Horn. I was told that they will not pass the vote because “they don’t like change”…isn’t the point of your elected positions is to make changes… I was told nothing has ever been dedicated to an individual…as they also say two rooms in the community center have… I expressed again how we simply want to give back to our community and support the skate park for years to come. The HOA could care less about that section of the park and it shows. It’s an eye sore and they have absolutely no future plans to change it. They offered an “annual award” in Gavin’s memory. In the same breath asked that I make a public statement so that the media would back off. What is an award going to do in the long overdue improvements that the skate park needs? How is an award going to bring the skate community and families together? Your award will not shut us up. We will honor Gavin and make positive changes in our community but it will not be in OP. You as board members have tarnished our love for this neighborhood and our home. You have made me fight for this skatepark during the hardest months of my life. I’m tired. Point blank..it all comes back to the individuals that killed my son and the HOA that chooses to support them. If Gavin had died in any other way that park would have been remained by now. As a community we deserve better. We pay our dues and elect officials to represent us..not to represent their friends that take them on expensive trips, pay their food and alcohol bill and use that to sway votes. I am the furthest away from a political person and to be honest this has certainly shown me why. Please kindly take the meaningless award and shove it up your asses. |
