For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Our family knew Sam. We were all part of a homeschool group. We had gym, roller skating , 4-h and many more activities for the students. It was a large group of well behaved joywul children from kindergarten to 12th grade. Sam stood out. He loved his siblings, loved his playmates, always had a huge smile on his face and at such a young age excuded charm and personality. We knew the lifeguards that dove in the freezing water to save the boys. They just couldn’t find Sam. A community of children devastated- along with families, friend, and beyond. Life tubes have been added around the lake in Sams name along with the annual award. Often Sam is thought of- and my children- now adults- speak of him. We are all sincerely appreciative of what the town did for Sam. He deserved it. And we were so blessed to have known this child! Gavin and his friends deserve renaming of a park they all love. I’m sure Sam would agree…. |
