We are part time OP residents and we use our primary home address in Silver Spring for OPA correspondence. Today’s USPS delivery has already been received and still no ballot. We are heading to our OP home tomorrow morning (7/25) for a 10-day stay. This is the response received from the Elections Committee today when I reached out to them about the issue:
“We recently learned that there was a one week delay by the printing and mailing contractor getting the envelopes to the USPS Bulk Distribution Center in Tacoma, WA. We are very unhappy about this situation. Some members who signed up for the USPS Informed Delivery daily email are reporting that their ballot is in today’s mail. Hopefully, you will receive your ballot before you depart for OP. We no longer produce ballot materials locally, for control purposes they are provided by our contractor in Washington State. Therefore, let us know if you do not receive your ballot today. We can request a duplicate be mailed, but that may not be necessary if you are in OP for a short period and will soon be returning to Silver Spring.” I have requested a duplicate ballot be sent to our OP address. Looks like OPA hired the wrong vendor for this election . |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Elections Committee Chairperson Tom Piatti said the lateness is not associated with the U.S. Postal Service The obvious and unanswered question is who was responsible for the “lateness.” |
