The 2024 Annual Ocean Pines Association Membership Meeting of August 10, 2024 is now in the history books.

For those who took the time to attend, this annual meeting was one of the best in recent years.

Sadly, a community of 8500 or so properties could not bring together a minimal quorum of only 100 properties to the meeting. Now, per the bylaws, a special board meeting is required to validate/certify the election results.

Presentations by OPA President Rick Farr, OPA Corporate Counsel Bruce Bright, OPA General Manager John Viola, OPA Director of Business Administration Linda Martin, and others were excellent.

Overall takeaway? Our association has never been in better condition. This is thanks to the leadership of recent Boards of Directors and GM John Viola, the man many call the best General Manager in the history of Ocean Pines. The current board just renewed Viola's contract for another four years.

With current board members Farr and Heavner re-elected, the board for the coming year will remain the same as this past year. Except for Steve Jacobs, all board members attended the Annual Meeting.

Unfortunately, the video of the meeting leaves much to be desired. It is, in essence, a PowerPoint slide-show presentation covering 80% or so of the screen and we never see even one full-frontal view of the individuals speaking at the meeting.

The only face we ever really see clearly is that of the CPA fellow and he is calling in remotely. The only period without all slides is public comments.
