The Pine’eer Craft Club is proud to announce Kimberly Perrone as the November crafter of the month.

 

Like many in Ocean Pines, Perrone and her husband vacationed in the community before eventually retiring there. Upon retirement, she immediately joined the Pine’eer Craft Club and was accepted into the Pine’eer Artisan Gift Shop to sell her ceramic art.

 

Perrone was first introduced to ceramics while pursuing a bachelor’s degree in art education and has been perfecting her craft ever since. She has taught ceramics to children, and to other art teachers while consulting with Mayco Ceramics.

 

Perrone works with both low-fire and mid-fire clay, which allows for a variety of practical uses and glaze combination choices. All her items are lead free, and her mid-fire glazes are specifically tailored for food usage. She has been creating ceramics for more than 50 years.

 

“I am always learning something new,” she said. “I am not a production potter and enjoy enhancing my wheel-thrown forms with springs, adding 3D elements to the clay such as shells, sea creatures and organic forms and altering shapes. Many of my items are one-of-a-kind.”

 

Perrone said she is honored to receive recognition from her peers in the Pine’eer Artisan Gift Shop.

 

Perrone’s pottery and other unique pieces are available at the Pine'eer Craft Club's Artisan Gift Shop, in White Horse Park in Ocean Pines. The gift shop is open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

 

The club is always seeking new crafters, and club meetings are open to the public.

Since its inception, the Craft Club has donated nearly $185,000 back to Ocean Pines. The club has been proudly handcrafting in Ocean Pines for 50 years.
