| If you saw the damage to the truck it was quite severe. Much more damage than would have been sustained had just a pedestrian been struck, based upon 30 years experiencing investigating traffic accidents. I am just curious as to how it went down and will not speculate, although I have my ideas. | ||||||

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I received that release, but did not publish. In my view, it should not have been released. The release essentially convicts the driver - William R. Lewis Jr. Information I have received indicates the dead man, Ramon Ramirez Castillo, was a worker, perhaps a landscaper. Apparently, another driver stopped on the other side of the Parkway and called to Castillo about doing some work for him. Castillo crossed the Parkway and at some point Lewis 's vehicle hit and killed Castillo. What the exact details of the accident are is under investigation by another agency. None of this is in the release. The release makes no reference to eye witness comments, just what was observed by officers arriving at the scene, after the fact. I'd have changed this part of the release: "Upon arrival, it was observed that a vehicle operated by William R. Lewis Jr., 65 YOA, of Parsonsburg, MD traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck an individual on the property of 47 Ocean Parkway." to "Upon arrival, it was observed that a vehicle operated by William R. Lewis Jr., 65 YOA, of Parsonsburg, MD struck and killed an individual in the area of 47 Ocean Parkway. Accident reconstruction is being handled by the Maryland State Police" |
