The Sparrows Point, former Bethlehem Steel has been announced as supplier of the steel towers for OC. Yet I've seen no info on the supplier of blades and the turbines themselves for the OC project.
And there's big concerns of quality slippage of one big supplier of those fiberglass blades. Failures soon after installation in US waters and offshore from the UK. Headline: Corners cut, data falsified at GE Vernova plant that manufactured failed turbine Click Here Then there's been excessive failures of the actual turbines manufactured by Siemons. Plus there's been financial weaknesses of several of the contractors heading these offshore wind projects. Projects have been delayed, & renegotiated with larger $$$ subsidies and costs of energy to be soaring higher. Kinda a mixed kettle of aging fish. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: I believe to become a reality, wind energy requires federal funding. I don't think the new administration will continue the funding at any significant level. Moore is hoping to look like a hero as he has convinced the operator to locate a manufacturing facility in Baltimore. That's clearly his end game. |
