Touch of Italy Contract commentary by Joe Reynolds, OceanPinesForum.com Now that the OPA Board of Directors selected Touch of Italy as the association's new food and beverage firm, association members obviously have a number of questions. Based on information from OPA, let's try and answer some of the more obvious questions. 1. When will Touch of Italy take over OPA food and beverage operations? 2. How much will Touch of Italy pay OPA to lease the OPA facilities? 3. Will OPA share in any profits made by Touch of Italy? 4. What about maintenance costs? 5. Will Touch of Italy continue the weekend bands on the Yacht Club deck? All in all, this new contract with Touch of Italy provides OPA with a substantially greater monetary return than the prior contract. For example, in OPA's fiscal year 2023-2024 the combined three food and beverage operations produced a profit of $98,000 after including depreciation expense while Ortt reportedly received a management fee and profit sharing amount of about $500,000 after OPA paid all expenses for the three venues, including labor. Association members will have an opportunity to ask their own questions at the OPA Town Hall Meeting next week - January 16th, Noon at the Community Center. |

Ocean Pines Association will host a town hall on Thursday, Jan. 16, at noon in the Community Center to introduce Touch of Italy, the company recently hired to manage the Association’s food and beverage operations.
During the town hall, Touch of Italy representatives will answer questions from homeowners and share their vision for the Yacht Club, Clubhouse Grille, and Beach Club.
Earlier this week, the OPA Board of Directors approved a five-year lease agreement with the Touch of Italy Group. Celebrated for its Italian cuisine and hospitality, the company has committed to enhancing the menus at all three venues with fresh seafood and American fare, while preserving popular traditions such as free summer concerts on the Yacht Club patio.
Touch of Italy, founded in 2010, operates three namesake restaurants and oversees food and beverage services at the Royal Prime Steakhouse and Bally’s banquet and conference facilities in Dover, Delaware. The group also manages the Sunset Island Bar and Grille in Ocean City and runs its own commissary kitchen and bakery to ensure the highest quality ingredients.
Rick Lawrence, who oversees financial operations for Touch of Italy, said the company looks forward to becoming an integral part of the Ocean Pines community.
“This is an exciting opportunity for us to raise the bar in Ocean Pines,” Lawrence said.
Homeowners are encouraged to attend the Jan. 16 town hall to learn more and participate in the discussion. For more information and updates, visit oceanpines.org.
