WBOC has reported that a NY Offshore Wind Turbine project has been halted. And this may be considered a good omen towards a similar stoppage for the Ocean City wind turbine project.

He said: "I think that if that project was halted, I think that the Maryland project has even more reason to be halted because of Department of Defense issues." "There is interference with radar, there is interference with subsurface detection and certainly those are both issues for the national defense," said Harris. YET the timing for review of the Ocean City project is still unclear. The Burgum action Wednesday is a significant victory for the fishing industry, wildlife advocates, and local grassroots groups that have vociferously opposed offshore wind development. Critics argue the planned industrialization of American oceans will devastate marine-based industries, harm wildlife like whales, interfere with military operations, and disrupt scenic beach views that are critical for tourism revenue in coastal communities. |
