As an aside, the RFP states that the contract was to be awarded by April 15. Instead of awarding the contract in a timely fashion following M06, Farr and Lakernick and the Election Chair have caused a mess.
A fair statement. |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: The presentation by the Election Chair made it glaringly obvious that he was biased toward awarding the contract to MK Elections. Even more troubling was the lack of neutrality displayed by Board Members Rick Farr and Stuart Lakernick. Despite the Committee’s clear recommendation to award the contract to ACE, Rick Farr attempted to exert undue influence by asking the Election Chair, “From what you know now and the Committee knows now, MK and ACE, who are of course the two finalists we see here, if we were to decide today who is better right now to take care of our elections, where would you lean?” This question was inappropriate and undermined the Committee’s authority. When a majority Committee member objected, Lakernick dismissed the protest by calling it a “valid question” and even tried to silence the dissenting voice. I would like to know from Director Farr and Director Lakernick, how this was a valid question? What was the point of this question? The Chair gave you his vote already – and that isn’t the vote that matters – it is the decision of the Committee. It’s baffling and concerning why Farr and Lakernick,(up for re-election), are so adamantly opposed to following the Committee’s recommendation to hire ACE. Farr’s claim that ACE raised a “red flag” because they didn’t provide references is absurd. The RFP is still online and does not mention that requirement. ACE is a well-established company with a proven track record in Ocean Pines, having served the community effectively for longer than many Board members have lived here. As an aside, the RFP states that the contract was to be awarded by April 15. Instead of awarding the contract in a timely fashion following M06, Farr and Lakernick and the Election Chair have caused a mess. |
