(April 28, 2025) Ocean Pines Recreation and Parks held its first-ever hockey watch party on Friday, April 25, at The Clubhouse Bar and Grille, with more than 110 fans turning out for an evening of excitement and community spirit.

Attendees gathered at 7 p.m. to cheer on the Washington Capitals during their playoff matchup, watching the action live on the Clubhouse’s big screens. Guests also enjoyed food and drink specials, raffles, a 50/50 drawing, hockey-themed trivia, and an all-around great time with fellow fans.

“There are certainly quite a few Capitals fans in the area,” said Ocean Pines Recreation and Parks Director Debbie Donahue. “We are so thrilled with the turnout and the energy everyone brought to the event.”

Donahue thanked the Recreation and Parks team and Touch of Italy, the new food and beverage contractor at the Ocean Pines Yacht Club, Ocean Pines Beach Club and The Clubhouse Bar and Grille, for helping to organize the event on short notice following the release of the playoff schedule.

Special thanks were also extended to Ocean Pines General Manager John Viola and the Board of Directors for supporting the Recreation and Parks team in hosting new events like the watch party.

“Ocean Pines Recreation and Parks is thrilled with the turnout and the energy everyone brought to the event,” Viola said. “It was wonderful to see so many people come together to celebrate the playoffs and have fun.”
Looking ahead, Donahue said she hopes to work with Touch of Italy again to host additional watch parties throughout the Capitals’ playoff run, as well as collaborate on other future events.
