Director Glenn Duffy spoke most eloquently against the Venit proposal, based on his experience in formally dealing with people in need. President Dan Stachurski also spoke in strong opposition. Both men praised Venit for his concern about less fortunate individuals and families, but rightfully pointed out that social service activities are the responsibility of government, not a homeowners association.
In the end, the proposal was defeated, with only Venit voting to approve. Venit's proposal was seconded by Director George Coleburn, allowing it to be discussed, but Coleburn too voted against the proposal.
