Ocean Pines resident Charlie Herpen announces formation of a group to use the petition option in the OPA by-laws to bring expansion of the marina at the Ocean Pines Swim and Racquet Club to referendum. Herpen's group has hired an attorney and collected funds for the effort.
Herpen says OPA plans call for the addition of 56 slips on finger piers at a cost that might run as high as $700,000. He believes the project would be unfair to the vast majority of lot owners, create problems for home owners in the immediate vicinity, and bring additional detrimental impact to the small cove planned as the location.
