Section 5: OPA Board Subject: Community Hall Options Msg# 530791

The fire department has said it will pay for the new building if OPA provides the land. Apparently OPA has been paying the fire department enough so it can accumulate a large reserve fund. At one point some board members were saying the fire department had a larger reserve than OPA itself. So, while the fire department will pay for the new building, it will pretty much do so with funds already given to it by OPA. It is lot owner money, anyway you look at it. Why would you want to tear down a structurally sound building, even if a new building is done? |

For reference, the above message is a reply to a message where: Joe, Do you have any information on the costs associated with moving the North Side Fire House to a new location and where the funding will come from? I favor "door 3" tearing down the old Community Center and replacing with a new one with an appropriate design for the intended uses.
